Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about planning your African safari adventure with Van Mo Safaris.
What is the best time to go on a safari in Tanzania?
The best time for a Tanzania safari is during the dry season from June to October, when wildlife concentrates around water sources making them easier to spot. The Great Migration in the Serengeti typically occurs between June and September. However, the green season (November to May) offers lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and lower prices.
How much does a safari cost?
Safari costs vary depending on the duration, accommodation level, and destinations. Budget safaris start from around $200-300 per person per day, mid-range safaris from $400-600, and luxury safaris from $800-1500+ per person per day. All our packages include transportation, park fees, meals, and expert guides. Contact us for a personalized quote.
Is it safe to go on a safari?
Yes, safaris are very safe when conducted with a reputable operator like Van Mo Safaris. Our experienced guides are trained in wildlife safety and first aid. You will always be in a secure vehicle during game drives, and our lodges and camps have 24-hour security. Tanzania is one of the safest safari destinations in Africa.
What should I pack for a safari?
Pack light, neutral-colored clothing (khaki, olive, brown), a warm jacket for early morning drives, comfortable walking shoes, a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, and a camera with a good zoom lens. Most lodges offer laundry service, so you can pack less than you think.
Do I need a visa to visit Tanzania?
Most visitors need a visa to enter Tanzania. Many nationalities can obtain an e-visa online before travel or a visa on arrival at the airport. The standard tourist visa costs $50 USD. We recommend applying for your e-visa at least 2 weeks before travel at the official Tanzania Immigration website.
What vaccinations do I need?
A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required if traveling from an endemic country. We recommend consulting your doctor about Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, and Tetanus vaccines. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended. We provide a detailed health preparation guide with every booking.
Can I customize my safari itinerary?
Absolutely! All our safaris can be customized to match your interests, timeline, and budget. Whether you want to focus on the Great Migration, combine a safari with a Zanzibar beach holiday, or add cultural experiences with the Maasai, our team will design the perfect itinerary for you.
What is your cancellation policy?
We offer flexible cancellation policies. Cancellations more than 60 days before departure receive a full refund minus a small administrative fee. Cancellations 30-60 days out receive a 50% refund. We strongly recommend travel insurance to protect your investment. Full details are in our booking terms.
Are children allowed on safari?
Yes! We welcome families with children. Children aged 5 and above can participate in most game drives. We offer family-friendly safaris with shorter drives, kid-friendly lodges, and activities designed for younger travelers.
